Marben Restaurant, Greta Constatine, Kelly Cutrone and Virgin America

This week (Monday March 22nd, 2010): Marben Restaurant closed for renovations, the Greta Constantine Fall / Winter collection was unveiled, Kelly Cutrone came to town and Virgin America announced plans to fly to Toronto.

General: Virgin America are in the midst of expanding their routes in the US, but the big news is talk of expansion to Toronto. Expected to begin later this year, flights will run daily from LA and San Fransisco to Toronto.

Food: Marben Restaurant closed on Friday for a month of serious renovations. The final day included a menu of the restaurant’s classic dishes and the auction of all its old contents. Origin, the new restaurant from Claudio Aprile, quietly opened over the weekend. The new space is from the man behind Colborne Lane has been highly anticipated.

Events: Fall / Winter 2010 fashion shows have continued in earnest this week on the run up to LG Fashion Week. Nada Shepherd showcased her NADA collection in a 3D movie at Scotiabank Theatre (Downtown), Breeyn McCarthy held a show at the Courthouse, and the much anticipated Greta Constatine show was held at the Audi dealership on Bayview.

People: Kelly Cutrone and Sarah Jessica Parker both had a whirlwind tour around Toronto this week. Cuthrone appeared on MTV and at Indigo to sign her new book. Parker was in town for the Canadian launch of her new Halston Heritage Collection.
